Data to Asset Information Models
Deliver accurate as-built data
All product data collected in ProductXchange via goBIM or the subcontractor is fully interoperable. This means that it can delivered in common data format such as IFC and COBie and is by definition fully compatible with any third party software e.g. FM systems.
In order to ensure the interoperable use of date between systems, all data is automatically ‘translated’ into the language or classification system the host system is using. coBuilder achieves this by using the buildingSMART Data Dictionary to map different concepts to IFC – the industry’s common data exchange format.
Model tagging capabilities
ProductXchange is integrated with a number of as-built BIM model software incl. the system’s own BIM viewer. Using these software, objects in the model can be tagged with accurate product information from their workplace.
Contractors can then save the model with the tagged information and export the actual as-built COBie with accurate Location data included.

Export to PDF
Often different supply chain members are required to keep a physical record of some of the documents related to products installed on a construction project. Safety Data Sheets are often printed out for workers to refer to while performing their jobs. In order to facilitate such needs the ProductXchange system offers bulk PDF export capabilities ensuring that everyone has access to the needed information both offsite and onsite.
ProductXchange acts as the contractors single data repository, however that does not mean that contractors are limited to the use of data through the system’s interface. Integrating ProductXchange with third-part software provides contractors with the benefits of automatic as-built data updates or specific data queries in any system. They can also offer the API Automation service to their partners who prefer to work through software integration rather than through data exports.
What is Interoperable data?
Let’s start with the question ‘What is the use of data that is hosted in PDFs that no one can search in or a database that uses internal codes?’. Furthermore, because you name something in way you understand it does not mean your clients will. Interoperability means that structured data needs to be shareable in multiple formats, multiple languages and along different software tools (e.g. Revit, IFC, ARCHICAD, Bentley etc.), that have their own naming systems and are widely used by the construction industry.
Delivering as built data
- Full export capabilities through a single product data and documentation repository for each project.
- Easy automated data attribution into BIM as-built visual models via plugins.
- Cross-platform data export capabilities, allowing data delivery to all FM systems and beyond.
- Facilitated delivery of an initial COBie making it easy to add the location and instance data at a later stage.
- Easy bulk exports of all project relevant documentation.
- API Automation for unlimited integration possibilities.
The ProductXchange plugin for Autodesk® Revit® allows professionals to attribute construction product data, available in ProductXchange, to a model in Revit.
The current version 1.0 is compatible with Autodesk Revit 2015, 2016 and 2017.
The ProductXchange plugin for Autodesk® Navisworks® allows professionals to attribute product properties, available in ProductXchange, to elements in Navisworks.
Version 1.1 is suitable for Navisworks Manage 2016.
The ProductXchange plugin for ArchiCAD® is aimed at professionals to add product properties, available in ProductXchange, to separate instances as well as to groups of instances in ArchiCAD.
The current version 1.0 is compatible with ArchiCAD 19 on both Windows and Mac OS.
- Liberate your data and use it across applications.
- Monitor the development of your digital workplace in your own systems.
- Query country specific data about all the products installed across your projects.
- Easily get all the documents associated with your workplace in your system.
- Update the data in one and see all systems get the update.
- Find out how and where your as-built data has been used.
The API explained
An Application Program Interface (API) is a set of rules that guide the way different software interact with each other. Ultimately, an API is the messenger that runs and delivers clients request to the provider (imagine a server) you’re requesting it from, and then delivers the response back to the client – a software, website, or an app.
Through the API integration with ProductXchange you can structure and query product data and documentation that is hosted in ProductXchange through your own system. What is more, ProductXchange allows you to keep control of all your information in real time automatically in your own systems. If you perform a single change – i.e. change the information you have about the U-value of a window in your ProductXchange, this will be reflected in your internal database in real time. As soon as the information is updated in ProductXchange the change is also transferred to other systems and databases connected via the ProductXchange API.
When a mere data drop in a file format is not enough an integration through the ProductXchange API allows you to output data directly to third-party users of your digital workplace information such as proprietary systems for surveyors, project and FM managers etc.
The API has an integrated data export functionality too. Through the automated integration all data exports (CObie, IFC, PDF, Excel) available through the ProductXchange platform become available to the system it has been connected with.
